Sir Tom Hunter visits UWS Ayr Campus

All UWS staff and students are invited to participate in Sir Tom Hunter’s visit to Ayr Campus on Wednesday 20 November. The visit comprises three sessions, outlined below, and you are welcome to attend some or all, which take place in Room GT33.

The first session is the launch of a short film interview with Sir Tom made by the School of Creative & Cultural Industries students. Sir Tom will take part in the launch and speak about his journey from his roots in Cumnock, selling trainers from the back of a van through to becoming one of Scotland, and the UK’s, leading business people and philanthropists. This session takes place 12.00-12.50.

The second session, while focusing on the creative industries sector, is relevant to all students and they are very welcome to attend. It involves a showcase of CCI students’ work followed by a Q&A discussion about issues for young people setting up their own business, with input and advice from Sir Tom. This session runs from 13.00-14.00.

Lastly, from 14.00-15.30 students will have the opportunity to get practical support and advice about setting up their own business from support agencies such as Business Gateway and the Prince’s Scottish Trust and from our own UWS alumni.

TO REGISTER YOUR (AND STUDENTS’) INTEREST PLEASE EMAIL LESLEY-ANNE.NIVEN@UWS.AC.UK INDICATING THE SESSION(S) YOU WISH TO ATTEND.
