Prof Miah has been researching the Olympics for 12 years and has focused on the rise of new media during this period. The LOCOG project encompasses all technical dimensions of the London 2012 operational infrastructure and is led by Professor Vassil Girginov at Brunel University.
It endeavours to add complexity to our understanding of the Organizing Committees of the Olympic Games, taking into account how they operate and the challenges they face. The research will be published in the two-volume officially licensed London 2012 academic book published by Routledge.
Prof Miah said:
“The rise of social media and new forms of broadcasting creates new challenges for the IOC and organizing committees. This research aims to provide insights for future Games sites into best practice and key lessons”
